Gandhi`s Emissary

Ghosh, Sudhir

Gandhi`s Emissary - London Routledge 2008 - xxxiii+311p

includes index and biblioraphy

In 1946, at the age of 29, Sudhir Ghosh was chosen by Gandhi to act as unofficial emissary between the British Labour Government and India in the delicate negotiations which resulted in the country`s independence. This book is not a political and constitutional history. Rather, it a first hand account of the principal actors the process that led to the division of India and Pakistan, and the creation of a parliamentary democracy in India. It is a story of what really happened between Gandhi and the Labour Government in 1945-47 over the transfer of power to India.
