Author discusses the ecclesiological ideas of Bishop Mar Mattam. Convinced of the identity of his mother church and inspired by the conciliar teachings, he heralded a new era of ecclesial awakening in the Syro-Malabar Church. Liturgy is the most distinctive identity marker of a church and therefore he advocated the need of the restoration of the Liturgy of his mother Church which was manipulated in the course of history.
