In the ministry of Jesus, liberation and salvation are closely linked and he goes beyond all the binding forces of religion and culture to bring liberation to the suffering persons. The healing experienced by the crippled woman in Lk 13:10-17 is not a mere physical healing. it is a total liberation, liberation from all kinds of enslavements. In Lk 13:10-17, Luke exposes the liberative nature of Jesus' mission and the restoration of the enslaved. The story of the crippled woman in Lk 13:10-17 proposes a liberative paradigm for the Church's mission today. The hermeneutical study of Lk 13:10-17 shows that the mission of the church is integral liberation of the human persons, especially those who are sidelined from the mainstream of life by the oppressive socio-religious customs and practices.
