Recognizing the value of the creative and co-responsible contribution of thousands of Lay-catechists all over the world in all sectors of Catechesis, pope Francis instituted the Ministry of Catechist through the Apostolic Letter Antiquum Ministerium issued Motu proprio. Presupposing that the reader is already familiar with the content of that document ,in this paper, after briefly highlighting the renewal of Catechesis in recent centuries, I wish t reflect on the applicability of the above-mentioned document and this ministry to the church in India
