The article highlights why it is important not to be limited to the synod of bishops but to transit to a synod of the church. this sees to be the underlying vision of synodality, which should be turned into an agenda for the next millennium of the Church in the thought of Pope Francis. Such an agenda calls for a rehabilitation of vatican II definition of the Church as the prople of God, which was indeed a "Copernical revolution" but was sidelined in the past few decades. Some of the unfortunate experiences of clericalism in the recent past and the epochal changes happening in the world point to the need for the hierarchical church to become a synodal Church increasingly, practicing synodality means listening attentively to the many small and marginal voices; it means also facing the concrete reality of conflicts, for example, in the participative structures, through discernment of the common god and shunning of promoting self-interest. The article concludes with some of the significant issues to be faced, especially in the Indian context, for an effective practicing
