From the Last supper to our final encounter and communion with God, the Eucharistic Community that Christ has formed with us is in a state of acknowledgement. For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the death of the Lord until He comes. Lord's Supper therefore gives an explicit call toward martyria. Taking this into account an attempt is made to explore the implications of the Eucharist as martyria. The article, therefore, investigates how the Eucharist empowers individual believers to undertake martyria. Besides examining the meaning of the word and its semantics, the article expands further implications from the perspective o its relationship to Jesus, paschal mystery and the community. Woven into the implications are thespecial references to consecrated life.
