"Universe- The Ultimate Free Lunch:? An Analytical study on Stephen Hawking

By: Material type: ArticleArticlePublication details: Delhi, ISPCK 2021Description: Pages 289-301Subject(s):
Contents:
Cosmos is the bedrock of all theorizing. Stephen Hawking's last book Brief Answers to the Big questions places some serious proposals to 'cosmogenesis'. Here, one of his fundamental claims is that "our universe is the ultimate free lunch." This is because 'the universe adds up to 'nothing ' and hence you don't need a God to create it' This paper explores the dynamics of this proposal in order to see whether there is something in it to assert that the Ultimate reality and the related metaphysical issues like the existence of the soul, life after death, etc. are unnecessary. The paper also aims to show that this proclamation itself is an exaggerated metaphysical leap which Hawking himself fervidly wanted to elude!
